The good with the bad

Scott left me in charge of the shop blog and it has been a lot more difficult than I thought it was going to be. I wanted to express to friends and clients how awesome Mercury Tattoo is and what we have all been up to. Sometimes life gets in the way.

My favorite Uncle passed away. He and my dad were incredibly close and almost every memory I have of childhood included Uncle Bob. I had to take some time off from the shop to be there for my family. Uncle Bob hated funeral and memorials services and any sort of organized religion really. He willed his body to science which is a pretty cool thing to do but a pretty difficult thing for your family to deal with. It makes the grieving process really hard especially for someone like my dad. My Aunt decided having a lunch in his honor with a very small group of people would be best.

Of course this Lunch was scheduled for the Sunday of the Lehigh Valley Tattoo Convention Skindustry Expo. Scott had already paid for the booth and we let a lot of folks know that he was going to be there all weekend. I told Scott he should be at the Convention and we all understood that he couldn't make the memorial lunch(Scott loved Uncle Bob too). Scott had a great time tattooing and spending time with the other tattooers at Skindustry on Friday and Saturday. He insisted on being at the memorial to support my family and me that Sunday.

I am certainly glad he was there. We were at the restaurant telling stories and remembering some of the funny things my Uncle had done when my dad complained that he wasn't feeling well. Minutes later he passed out right at the table. We all thought he was gone. I shouted for someone to call 911 and held my father's head in my hands and kept saying "stay with me dad." Finally he came around a little, his skin was gray and clammy. I was one of the scariest things I have ever experienced. The EMTs got to the scene and gave him oxygen, an IV and loaded him into the Ambulance. My poor Aunt had already been through so much I felt bad she had to witness this. Scott and I drove behind the Ambulance and would spend the next 8 hours at the hospital with my family. My father is going to be fine, the adjusted his medications and kept him over night for observation. I am so grateful for the support that Scott gave to my family and me.

I am very thankful to all of my friends and a lot of clients here at Mercury who expressed their concern for my dad and their condolences for my Uncle.

I know my next post will be a more positive one. We have a lot of great things coming up in the next few months. Scott will be attending several Conventions and participating in some really exciting art shows.
